These vibrant wood prints by Cathy McMurray encapsulate the beauty of the Pacific Northwest so well. The first picture looks like a mashup of Portland wilderness and designs you might find in an Anthropologie, which are two things I love! Well, I haven't been to Portland yet, but these beautiful wood prints are definitely making me look forward to my trip next month!

The Deep Sea: Macropinna microstoma
I'm going to designate this month, Deep Sea Month, even though it's halfway over. I was searching for
pictures of the angler fish, and I stumbled across this lovely video. I saw it a couple years ago but it
retains all it's impressiveness no matter how many times you watch.
Tangential note: On January 27th, the Discovery Channel is going to air the first footage of a giant squid.
I'm pretty excited, but I'm aware of the potential let down. I'm hoping to see something of mythical proportions, but it'll probably just be ... well, a squid. The countdown begins!

Fluffy Goodness
Aren't these photos gorgeous? Something very ethereal about them. Little do you know that they're
actually spider's webs strewn across sticks and branches. Lovely, no? I spared you the more
Arachnophobia-like pictures, but you're welcome to explore for yourself here. This web fairyland was
created as a result of excessive flooding that drove the spiders upwards onto sticks and branches in
Wagga Wagga, Australia.
