Location: Heritage Square Museum, Los Angeles The mister and I took a little excursion to Heritage Square to check out some historical homes from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Somehow we ended up there for 3 hours, which was 2.5 hours too long. The misunderstanding arose due to one thinking that the other wanted to stay longer and vice-versa. We both thought we'd suck it up and appease the other person when indeed, neither one of us wanted to stay that long to begin with. Anyhow, Heritage Square is worth visiting for vintage inspired coloring books, sticker books, and mini wooden puzzles. Okay, that's what I bought from the gift shop. But the exteriors of the homes are worth seeing. The walking tour of the interiors is nearly 2 hours long. As much as we liked our tour guide (the man in the suit above), we wanted to leave by the time we got to the 3rd house but felt it was too impolite. Our tour guide reminded me of a young Ben Stein in vocal pitch and enthusiasm, but he also had a Ross Gellar feel to him. My favorite part of the tour was when we were standing in one of the original bathrooms. Our tour guide told us how much he loved bathrooms and that just standing there gave him goosebumps. He stood by the sink telling us how ahead of their time the knobs were. And he continued to look lovingly at the knobs for a few seconds. It was kind of cute how enamored he was. It always makes me happy to hear someone talk about something they like so much, which apparently, in this case, was a couple of nice knobs. |
